As a Black person of Eritrean heritage from East Africa, born and raised in Saudi Arabia, my lived experience shapes how I view equity, inclusion, and belonging. My parents taught me to embrace my culture and identity, which has deeply influenced my values. My focus in the arts and cultural sector is on creating inclusive spaces that celebrate diverse voices and heritage. I’m committed to celebrating Black culture and sharing the beauty and depth of Black history with Simcoe County, while embracing and honouring Black people from different countries and cultures
